Our home is working with volunteers since
July 2003. In the meanwhile we have had many volunteers,
staying for one month up to five months. Most volunteers
have offered the children a lot of fun, attention and love.
They came with a good heart and did what they suppose to do.
They cared about the children, with a smile and sometimes a
tear. They have showered the children with love and
emotions, they have cherished their most beautiful moments
with the children. These volunteers they will never forget
the children and the children will never forget them....We
have a net work of volunteers sharing their experiences
together, they befriended one and each other. And there are
volunteers who are coming back for the second time and third
time.... If you have the right intention and you are a
flexible friendly child loving person, willing to work in a
team and you are not stucked into your luxery life then
KARIBU SANA...
There are some rules you have to respect!
* always keep in mind that you came to Kenya to assist in
the home. Let that be your priority and not to spend most of
your time to have holiday.
* what ever you think it is normal for you at home or in
Europe dont do it here. Kenya has totally different morals
and it cant be correct to show them yours !
* We are a Christian home and expect you to respect our
religion.
* Keep in mind that the food is not like at home and we have
dont have the means to allow us the most luxery food. To
complain about food is in a country like Kenya where people
die of hunger out of order! If you cant miss your cheese or
any favorite food for some time bring it with you or be
strong....
* it is not allowed to drink alcohol in front of the
children!
* it is officially not allowed to smoke within the home.
* bear in mind that the children in our home are despite
their back ground normal children with normal problems.
* Every volunteer is different. It is good to have your own
opinion but it is not possible to change the home rules,
morals, schedule to your standard cause this will confuse
the children.
If you
want to come to assist us in this home you pay a
registration fee of 75 euro and 350 euro monthly for
accommodation in the home and three meals. Coffee and tea
are included.
