About Us

October 2003

In October 2003 I returned to Thika for a short stay. I went alone. I missed my son Nathan so much that it was very hard for me to manage. I was growing fast because of my pregnancy. I had such a big belly that when I walked outside at the market wearing a special pregnancy trouser people were laughing about me! They looked at me as if they saw a pregnant woman for the first time. When I asked some of them they said they never had seen a white
( Mzungu ) woman being pregnant. I enjoyed the time though with the children but didnt go anywhere. I knew I would not see them for long till after giving birth and then still months to wait for the baby to be at least some months to take to Kenya. In October I had to release Michael. He was no longer able to run and manager the house the way I wanted. He kept the "Iam an African man" slogan and that is simply not possible when you have to manage a home with children. I employed Nelson, the karate teacher of the children. Knowing he had no experience either I knew I took a risk. But I had no time to look for someone else. The children liked him a lot and a volunteer recommended him. We also got another boy into the home. Johnson 13 years old. The headteacher of the St Patrick school asked for our assistance. Cause the boy slept on a dirty toillets floor at some neighbours. When William went to check the smell of the toillet was unbearable. We took the boy. His mother died some years ago and his father is a drunkard in the slums. There are so many children in need in Kenya! I wish I could help them all. I left with a heartache. I had to leave the children but also my husband behind.
