We are
now in November 2005. The situation has changed a lot. We
moved from Nairobi to Thika in July 2004. Then we once more
moved from Thika to Mtwapa nearby Mombasa. The last time we
moved was in April 2005 from Mtwapa to North Mtwapa to a a
bigger house which can accomodate more children and has it
owns compound. Right now we are settled there till we will
be able to buy a plot and built our own home.
We do
have at this moment 15 orphans in our care. 2 previous
streetchildren are living in Nairobi on their own and are
financially supported by our NGO. James is 18 learning to
become a safari cook and Charles also 18 is learning how to
drive and want to become a safari driver and mechanic. James
is assisting already during the safaris.
We
have 13 orphans living in the home age 6 months till 15
years old. Johnons is 15, Maxwell 11, Salomé is 11, Selina
is 8, Kipu is 6 ( aids child ) , Maurice is 7, Dennis is 7,
Sylvester is 4, Gregory is 4 ( aids child) ,Savannah (
aids child) will be 3 soon, Moses ( aids child ) is 2 and
half, Beatrice is 2 and Faith ( aids child ) is about
6 months. Lydia a older orphan of 23 years is also living
with us.
In the
staff we have Edward the care taker. Doing his job very well
and coming along with the volunteers and children in a
perfect manner. Humprey is our cook having the tough job to
cook for all the children, staff and volunteers. Not always
easy cause the volunteers sometimes are giving him a hard
job when they complain about to salty, not salty enough, to
spicy, to this or that. Many volunteers with different
tastes so imagine... His wife Myriam a wonderfull kind
joyfull lady assisting to raise the children in a Kenyan
way. taking good care about the youngest children.
The
volunteers : mostly a joy sometimes a burden. But with most
volunteers we had a great time and we are very gratefull
that they came and assisted us with taking care about the
children and keeping the house clean... The children love
the volunteers but if there is tension in the house because
of the volunteers then the children are behaving different.
Our
goal; to give our children love and attention, good
education, taking them for excursions, to built our own
orphanage where we can host about 50 children. Preparing
them for a independent life.
